Artists, buyers, sponsors, volunteers and attendees once again guaranteed a fun and exciting Art Auction 47 last March.  Thank you!  We had a wonderful event, raising funds that sustain valuable exhibitions and education programs throughout the year.

The YAM’s auction was the region’s first and is still the area’s finest and most exciting auction of contemporary regional art!  It’s the place to be, and it’s an exceptional way to support the artists living and working in your midst.  Every year, the Art Auction raises crucial support for the exhibitions and educational programs that the Yellowstone Art Museum presents to the community year-round.
The last Art Auction saw 58 live auction and 130+ silent auction items from over 170 artists.  Thanks to the generous support of sponsors, 100+ volunteers, and attendees, the YAM raised more than its goal to continue preserving Montana’s artistic heritage as well as promoting current artistic growth and enrichment.  We couldn’t have done it without you.

"The noblest pleasure is the joy of understanding." – Leonardo da Vinic Leonardo da Vinci (April 15, 1452 – May 2, 1519) was the archetype of the Renaissance Man. His genius spans many interests employing methods unusual and pioneering during his time. He was born out of wedlock to an Italian couple in the region of Florence. His art education was under the Florentine painter, Verrocchio. During his working life he spent years in Milan, Rome, Bologna and Venice. The last years of his life were spent in France. Of course, there is much written about him and his accomplishments that seem to go on and on. How can one not be inspired by his art.    Below are a few samples of his rich drawings.
